Quote for this Week

September 23, 2005 By jennifer

If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.

George Orwell

……………………….
And I might post another ‘quote for the week’ next Friday. So feel free to send me your best quote for next week, next week. In the interim perhaps post your best quote from this week as a comment below. Cheers,

The quote that i’ve enjoyed the most this week is:

“There is a basic social divide between those for whom life is an accrual of fresh experience and knowledge, and those for whom maturity is a process of mental atrophy. The shift toward the latter category is frightening.”

the quote is from a writer named Andrew Solomon. I read the quote in the book “Everything bad is good for you”, by Steven Johnson.

“They proclaim that every man is entitled to exist without labor and, the laws of reality to the contrary notwithstanding, is entitled to receive his “minimum sustenance” his food, his clothes, his shelter, with no effort on his part, as his due and his birthright. To receive it, from whom?”
    Ayn Rand
