Methane Leak
Scientists have discovered the Arctic ocean seabed is leaking huge amounts of methane into the atmosphere.  The research published in the journal Science shows the permafrost under the East Siberian Arctic shelf, which was thought to be a barrier sealing methane, is perforated.  Read more here. GM Crops Implicated in Global Warming

Is this a turning up of the screw of climate hysteria for political purposes, in line with the 40 top scientists in Australia who advocate unceasing efforts to mitigate climate change and not to be distracted by the 2008 GFC (a Ruddism)?

Is it all to do with setting a scenario for the impending U.S. presidential election so that Obama will be elected to save us from climate catastrophe? Is Al Gore’s political machinations related?

It’s much too much of a coincidence for all this climate change baloney to be revved up at this particular time of the year.

If I were AGW believer, then the logic would be –
    GM = stronger crops.
Stronger crops = more carbon sinks.
More Carbon Sinks = Less Atmospheric CO2
Less Atmospheric CO2 = Less Global Warming

    Louis,

You could be right. Or it might be people riding on an opportunity for a ratepayer-funded trip to Japan and trip to Denmark.

Whatever it is, I am personally becoming increasingly despondent and pessimistic as these lies get further cemented into the international psyche.

    Where will it end?

    Steve,

The AGW bandwaggon is really nothing more than a jolly good ride for the rent seekers in society – hoping for profitable advantange over others by having government on your side – crony capitalism it’s called.

And you are right to be despondent because it is pretty obvious that no amount of contradictory fact will ever change the mind of a zealot.

I’ve come to realise that humanity seems to be genetially divided into two populations – right and left brainers.

Sceptics are essentially left-brainers where logic and facts rule. Right brainers rely on emotion, feely-touchy modes and a reliance on belief rather than compulsion from bloody obvious facts.

Socialists are right-brainers, while laissez faire capitlalists left brainers.

What intrigues me is whether any scientific study has been conducted in which some quantification of left vs. right braininess has been established.

If right brainers are the majority, then your despondence is well founded, but being a left brainer, you would then know how to maximise this knowledge to your own personal benefit.

I wonder if John Ray has any data on this – he should have.
