I attended a conference over the weekend in Gympie in the once beautiful Mary Valley. Many of those attending were concerned about ridgelines being excavated for wind turbines, and thousands of hectares of once wooded valley being covered in solar panels. All of this as part of state government-endorsed plans, created without community consultation, and exempting foreign investment from local environmental regulations.
Of course, the myth is that the impact on local environments, including waterways, is justified because this is about saving the planet from catastrophic climate change.
Except climate change is natural. My research (published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including GeoResJ Vol 14, pgs 36-46) shows there would have been global warming over the last 100 years irrespective of human activity.
The extent of global warming over the last 100 years is insignificance when compared to the 120 metres of sea level rise that occurred at the beginning of the current geological epoch, the Holocene, and before that etched into the rock face at Noosa National Park is evidence that 125,000 years ago sea levels were 2 metres higher than they are today.
Temperature have already begun to plummet, including in the Mary Valley. To be clear, climate change is real, and mostly natural.
Temperatures have been measured at Gympie, in the Mary Valley, for more than 100 years. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology’s annual mean maximum temperature for Gympie never showed dramatic warming.
Like most temperatures for locations across northern and eastern Australia, maximum temperatures for Gympie over the last 100 years show decadal-scale variability. Over the last few years the annual maximum temperature has already declined by more than 2 degrees, making a mockery of ‘net zero’ that claims we must keep temperatures within 1.5 degrees of warming.
Dramatic warming in maximum temperatures is not evident in any long continuous temperature record, as measured in a consistent way, for any single location across this planet. Rather the climate catastrophe is a contrived artificial simulation; a consequence of the industrial scale remodelling of historical temperature series and the recombination of thousands of these homogenised records to support the myth that we have a global climate catastrophe.
It is the elites who are being rewarded with fantastic profits at huge cost to local communities including in the Mary Valley. If you don’t believe me read the 2021 report by Bank of America, a multinational investment bank and financial services holding company, that explains the crusade against climate change is going to cost $150 trillion over 30 years with nearly $5 trillion in annual investments. That is a lot of money, that could be spent on other things.
To be clear, these trillions of dollars, already fuelling global inflation, are being provided as a stream of taxpayer, and debt-funded finance (much of it guaranteed by superannuation funds) to already fantastically rich entrepreneurs to build massive wind and solar monstrosities that will leave a permanent scar on the lives of people in once picturesque landscapes including in places likes the Mary Valley.
Economist Alan Moran explains how it works in a recent article in Quadrant magazine. Lawyer Tom Marland explains the scale of the projects with plans to cover many hundreds of thousands of hectares of once productive farmland across Queensland with solar panels, and then there will be new transmission lines to join them all up, and so much concrete including for the wind turbines. Tom mentions some of this beginning at 10 minutes into this new 16 minute PRA YouTube:

Good luck. There is hope after the proposed extension of the Waterloo range array west of Glen Innes was defeated. The good people who live in the Hamlet of Ben Lomond at 1450 masl protested against these defiling monsters – and won.

The Borumba pumped hydro boondoggle is also a major concern for us here in the Valley as well Jennifer.

Before the full array of measures to defeat the fake “Global Warming/Climate Change ” were enacted there were sensible plans to replant Trees on Ridgelines to stop the recharge of water into the soil profile that was increasing Salt problems in valleys and other agricultural areas . Now these useful trees are being removed to allow for Wind Turbines that do nothing useful for most of the time so the problem will return. Not to worry the useful Agricultural areas are being covered with Arrays of Solar Panels preventing the growth of crops on the now salt contaminated soil.

Thanks Jen. I worked on the new construction of the Mary River bridge during that missing bit in your graph [late ’50s] and back then it was 100f or more on most summer days.
Using a jackhammer under water in diver’s lead boots and helmet was quite a relief.

The word “trillion” seems to slide off the keyboard easily, but have you stopped to work out how much a trillion dollars really is? A trillion is one million million – that’s a 1 followed by 12 zeros. If I gave you one dollar per second, 24 hours a day, how long would it take to give you $1 trillion? The answer: 31,688 years. 30,000 years ago was about the time Neanderthals were becoming extinct and “modern” humans were developing.
And yet the Bank of America can blithely talk about expenditure of $US5 trillion per annum, while the US government runs a deficit many times that.
The amount is beyond our capacity to comprehend.

Renewables were never about saving the planet. Alan Moran and Tim Marland in their respective presentations explain how it’s predatory economic reform and uses green credentials to evade due process

Where is the ‘Bradfield Scheme’?
If the lot of those people,(Black,White or Brindle,) West of the ‘Range’ is to be improved – Permanent Water must be a priority.
By the ‘Bradfield Scheme’, I refer predominantly to the initial vision of Dr Bradfield, whereby sea-water is introduced into the suitable below sea-level portions of the country, from South Australia. The current ‘bastardised’ version of the Bradfield Plan, to divert water from the East Coast, is not likely to be timely, or adequate.
The invalidation of the God-backed political system, (by the invalidation of the Gregorian Calendar,) means the current Australian monarchy-bound constitution, is also ‘invalid’.
If the tax system was changed to a single GST Resource Tax,(No Income Tax/No State Taxes/User Pays) there would be NO tax avoidance – the end of rampant, exponential consumerism and unbridled immigration. The funding generated could be allocated according to a per-capita/needs-based criteria that benefited the Country, rather than the loudest or most corrupt interest-groups.
It is Local Councils that should be responsible the nuts and bolts of decision-making for their area, in regards to basic ‘quality of life’ issues, unless over-ridden by genuine National priority considerations.
The demise of Religion,(all denominations,) and all witchcraft, shamanism and ‘cargo-cults’, means the redefined family unit should assume civic responsibility, for sustainable local practical action, as the Planet replaces God as an existential paradigm .
As much as the dreamers in NASA and Hollywood tell us otherwise – we will not be getting another Planet.
Don Gaddes says
That should read ‘for the nuts and bolts’
The proof of the invalidation of the Gregorian Calendar is contained in the following treatise.

Richard Bennett says
The wheels are falling off the man-made global warming bandwagon because the people are not as stupid as the so-called global-warming climate experts are. The so-called eco-experts who are largely funded by hard-left institutions who want a socialist/communist world government (WEF inspired) where the people are subjugated to harsh controls on their daily lives and are prevented from any form of dissent. Such situations never end well because the people will overthrow such tyrannical regimes and eliminate those people responsible.
David Ernest Leslie Hounslow says
Richard I agree its a costly fraud but hope it does not come to revolution.

Major engineering projects such as the Bradfield Scheme could be immediately scuttled by the ‘Voice’, just offering an opinion that the Fantasy ‘Rainbow Serpent’, (or other mythical entities,) would be disadvantaged by disruption to ‘habitat’.
Governments of either persuasion could easily manipulate the opinions of the ‘Voice’ to avoid funding any infrastructure program they wanted to delay, or avoid altogether.
Commercial entities could also use targeted preferential funding to achieve advantage over rival bidders and promote questionable projects.
The current legislation proposed in Western Australia, should be seen as a precursor to the ongoing ramifications of the influence of such a quasi-political body as the ‘Voice’ is
set up to be.
