Concerts for a Climate in Crisis: LiveEarth

July 6, 2007 By jennifer

It starts tomorrow in Sydney, 150 performers in eight cities on seven continents including Antarctica – concerts that will rock around the clock for a world which Al Gore alleges has a climate in crisis.

Do we face a climate crisis, Jen? If we don’t what is your evidence?

Gore attacks qualified doubting scientists but gives a platform to bands.

“Rock group Arctic Monkeys have become the latest music industry stars to question whether the performers taking part in Live Earth on Saturday are suitable climate change activists.

“‘It’s a bit patronising for us 21 year olds to try to start to change the world,’ said Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, explaining why the group is not on the bill at any of Al Gore’s charity concerts.

“‘Especially when we’re using enough power for 10 houses just for (stage) lighting. It’d be a bit hypocritical,’ he told AFP in an interview before a concert in Paris.

“Bass player Nick O’Malley chimes in: ‘And we’re always jetting off on aeroplanes!’

“‘There’s more important people who can have an opinion. Why does it make us have an opinion because we’re in a band?'”

Jen, I love the way that global warmine deceivers (e.g. melaleuca) want to change the argument from them having to prove their case to the skeptics having to prove a negative. Sorry. Before we spend trillions of dollars and take those resources away from hospitals, schools, and security, we need absolute proof from the Al Gore fan club.

From my active time in Greenpeace , I was always astonished by the description of celebtrities as ” heroes ” by GP . They appreciated especially people like Paris Hilton, David Beckham and the Royalties, people who are living an un -environmentally friendly life as possible( farting around in their private jet planes etc).

Just what we need, not. Pop star politics and know-nothing multi-millionaires telling us how to live our lives. Gore is now worth $100 million.

If they wanted to send a “responsible” (or at least self-consistent) message, they’d cancel all the concerts and tell everyone to stay home to prevent the event from emitting CO2.

Al Gore has an answer to this criticism, however; he says that emitting CO2 in the course of “raising awareness” against it is not only permissible, but mandatory as well. See, “Gore Defends Live Earth Concerts, Self,” July 6, 2007,

It’s awfully convenient to have a religion where the faithful can forgive their own sins. If I could stomach the hypocrisy, I’d be tempted to join.

All this simply goes to show that warmers have more fun and loser denialists are a sour lot.

  10. Schiller Thurkettle says

    July 7, 2007 at 12:20 pm

    Luke,

Denialists have lots of fun parties which celebrate successful “normal” life events. Like getting a CO2-exhaling job, getting a CO2-exhaling house, getting a CO2-exhaling wife, etc.

The gorebal warmingers are the sour ones who have to go elsewhere and do the anti-happy thing.

I get the impression you feel left out of the normal party circuit.

Al Gore knows more about money and publicity than about climate:

Is Al Gore Willing to Put His Money Where His Mouth Is?

Brit Hume, Fox News, July 06, 2007

    Forecasting Bet

Last week we told you about an expert in forecasting who challenged Al Gore to a $10,000 bet over who could more accurately predict global temperature increases.

Professor Scott Armstrong contends that most climate change forecasts use bad methodology, and that global temps will not rise dramatically as Gore predicts.

Now the professor has received his answer from Gore – thanks, but no thanks.

A Gore representative said the former vice president is too busy to take on any new projects at this time.

Schiller: note your “CO2-exhaling wife” gets no thrills out of your holding up Jen’s place.

Also; your professor is most unlikely to fix anything worthwhile, here or there.

Look for smiling faces at the concert and bear in mind that ignorance is supposed to be bliss.

(This probably also explains Luke’s comment about warmers having more fun.)

The more I research this moron the more concerned I become.
His father was Hammers political proxy, while Hammer was taking money from the Russian Checka and later, KGB.
And Good Ol Al has kept up the family business. Amazing how some prattle on about oil companies “financing” Eco-Heretics when their God has been on their payroll for many years.
Maybe Putin knows what Al and the CO2 crims are up to. Thats why he has taken control of the hydrocarbon industry before Al and his scammers get involved.

As I have said previously, AGW is a political fraud it is not an issue of CO2 it is an issue of control of the worlds energy complex and Government by default. Gore sr was obviously a committed Leftist who didn;t mind the odd stray million or two. His son is no different from the father he idolised.
And AGW as a body of work now has so many parasites feeding on it we can only hope they bleed it dry. When the $$ run out watch the parasites drop off and find another host.

Did anybody else laugh at the stupidity of the ‘Sydney Live Earth’ concert having as its slogan a nuclear free earth?! Surely if they so want to fix the runaway co2, they should at least be considering options like nuclear!? Sums up this new religion……..Mind you personally i enjoyed much of the music, and if it does make people switch off a few lightbulbs and switches and try to reduce their energy consumption, then it has to be a good thing.

Local, city, county, state and the federal governments should be first to “go green.” Politicians should not be elected to public office unless they agree to convert every government building and vehicle to renewable energy. There are at least three reasons why this should be so.

When all levels of government are taken into account, they control 40% of the economy. With that kind of economic incentive anyone who wants to sell to the government will hasten to meet the demands of its largest single buyer. Government will no longer have to pass laws to enforce cafe standards for instance. Rather the Government will simply tell auto companies, we want to replace our fleet of vehicles but will not buy anything that does get at least 50 mpg if it is gasoline based, or it must be a hybrid, or it must be fueled with renewable fuels.

Another reason Government should go green first is national security. Part of every oil dollar paid for Middle Eastern oil goes directly into the pocket of terrorists. If we convert to renewable fuels that we control, we defund terrorism and protect ourselves simultaneously.

Yet another reason to heed Al Gore’s clarion call on global warming is economic security. OPEC can not ruin our economy if we convert to renewable fuels that we control.

And finally, suppose Gore is right? When anyone hypes anything as much as AL Gore hypes global warming, I have my doubts. But I can’t see what is harmed by going green so why not? The military is doing some research on alternative and renewable energy. Whoever is the next president of the United States should institute a “Go Green or Go Home” policy for the military. Those who come up with energy saving devices or methods as well as those who implement alternative or renewable fuels should rise quickly through the ranks. Those who don’t should be encouraged to seek employment elsewhere. As resourceful as marines are, for instance, I would bet they could make surprising advances in fueling everything from jeeps to an entire base through alternative means if left to their own devices. The military has through it’s contractors developed the most effective weapons in the world. If this same level of effort is turned toward greening the military we will be a safer, more secure, and more independent nation. We will create new jobs and industries and the air and water will get cleaner as a benefit.

I just can’t wait for “climate change on ice” but I guess that would have to be melting ice, and that would rule out a repeat performance. But once the audience realised that the the scriptwriters had completely lost the plot then there would be no need for a repeat performance anyway.

Did anyone notice what a bimbo Toni Collette managed to make of herself? couldn’t quite explain why or what it was that she was there for but it seemed big anyway.

Am still struggling with the logic of it all. “Listen folks, we got this really big, complex problem, what can we do? I know, lets call a bunch of musicians, that should fix it”.

    Poetry,

Those are all kind and nice ideas, but what if they’re based on falsehoods, and what if people don’t want the government to force them to act on the basis of green falsehoods?

Frightenening to think that >40% of the economy is controlled by a govt, already over 30% of the cost of a new house in NSW goes to govt taxes and levies.

    Unsustainable!
