One solution to “carbon pollution” is biochar, but according to the Australian government’s policy on emissions trading, the science of biochar is not fully developed – so it can’t be included in any emissions trading scheme.

ON Monday, the first day of summer here in Australia, residents of the little town of Barmah in northwestern Victoria, drove cattle into their forest in defiance of a government ban. The Department of Sustainability and Environment has threatened legal action, but so far the cattle are still there.

On Saturday I reported that 200 whales are trapped in ice in the Canadian Arctic.
Today I received photographs of one of the groups of Narwhal trapped in one of the 11 open holes.
