    Beware . the temple has been built with a lot of money and the Priests have vast resources still at their disposal.

    Baron Algore may have quietly withdrawn to count his profit, but the kids are still being recruited.

    NIWA’s complicity in’ Climategate ‘ seems to be unreported within NZ and one must read foreign news to hear of the complicity of Aussie climaxologists.

    Well, there appear to be two schools of thought about how to handle resignations in this ‘climate’.

    There’s the Phil Jones/Tiger Woods philosophy, of ‘confess, and be forgiven and redeemed’.

    Then there’s the Gore/Pachauri philosophy, of ‘wait things out’. They may be right. According to the well-accepted theory of “issue attention cycles”, public attention to an issue goes through a cycle involving five steps. What happens in the last two steps is that the public loses interest and the problem remains unresolved. (1)

    A simple reading of this philosophy, applied to these circumstances, implies that ‘hiding out’ long enough will allow them to re-emerge into a cultural ‘climate’ where the AGW ‘problem’ is still unresolved.

    This analysis can be run another way: Like AGW, Climategate is also a ‘public attention issue’. As such, it hasn’t yet run through the first three parts of the attention cycle. Which means that these people will have to wait until two attention cycles are complete before re-emerging.

    By waiting through two cycles, they may discover upon their re-emergence that culture has passed them by, and they are no longer relevant. The greens are, after all, test-marketing new scares all the time.

    In closing, I would like to mention that Marc Morano is to receive the Receive Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Award. (2)

    The greens will complain of the bestower of the award, but later developments could make this award quite coveted.
