Cohenite - you didn't answer my question regarding registration. So I took a look for myself and found that TCS is not yet registered for federal elections.

http://aec.gov.au/Parties_and_Representatives/Party_Registration/Registered_parties/index.htm

Of course that means they need members. 500 members in fact if they want AEC registration so they can run as a party in federal elections. How many members so far?

If anybody wants to join a party that supports freedom I would suggest they join the LDP first because it is more broadly based and it is already registered for federal elections, but hey I'm biased. Of course people can probably join both the LDP and TCS if they are so inclined.

Thanks Taluka; are you an Australian citizen? If so, why not join? If not TCS has a supporters membership category. In any event keep up the good work against this 'chicken little' hysteria.

TerjeP; thanks for the best wishes; I dare say some liason between like-minded other political parties and TCS will occur; but we are not a single issue party; it's just that there is no bigger issue right now than AGW; this is make or break for Australia and indeed the world; so right now TCS is concentrating on the [illusionary] elephant in the room; with that disposed of the application of rational principles will flow to other issues.

Yes but are they registered for federal elections? The Liberal Democrats (LDP) are and they are more broadly committed to defending freedom as well as being sceptical of the anti-freedom arguments made in the name of climate change. There is of course always room for more options on the voters political menu (lots more in my book) and I do wish this new party well. However as far as I know the LDP remains the only registered party commited to freedom principles and they do have the merit of not being a single issue party.
